Ryan Buell

ryan_smiling_resized2.jpg Ryan Buell founded the Paranormal Research Society the first month he arrived on campus in September 2001. Buell always knew he was interested in the paranormal ever since he could read. He regularly checked out books from the library ranging from poltergeists to the Bermuda Triangle. A native of South Carolina, Buell began investigating at the age of 15. His first investigation was on the Salem-Black River Church just outside of his hometown.

After three years as Director of the PRS, Buell was invited to speak at colleges and high schools all over the east coast. Two book proposals have also been offered since him founding PRS, as well as several television opportunities. Buell was approached by producer Betsy Schechter during spring break in 2005 and was instantly interested in working with him and his group for a TV series. Later that year, Schechter found a home for PRS and its show: A&E. A year later, filming began for "Paranormal State," a half-hour docu-drama that chronicles PRS and their investigations into the paranormal. Schechter also made Buell a producer for the show.

Buell got his first degree in May 2006. He is now finishing another degree while working on the first season of "Paranormal State." Buell also announced that he would write a book in 2007. Aside from the paranormal, Buell travels the world, writes, is an avid movie junkie and is a freelance journalist.

Emily Jeanne Eppig

emily_eppig.jpg Emily Jeanne Eppig currently lives just outside of State College, Pennsylvania with her husband, 3-year-old daughter and infant son. She obtained her BA from Penn State University and will proudly bleed blue and white as long as she lives. A love of writing began when she was very young. She has been freelance writing for various Pennsylvania publications since 2005. In addition to Paranormal Insider, her other writing projects include two books: a non-fiction and a historical fiction novel. Emily also authors a paranormal-themed blog called Centre County Spook for The Centre Daily Times in State College, Pennsylvania. Emily is also a professional muralist and decorative painter and owns her own business, The Fairy Paintbox. She paints murals and designs children's rooms in both Pennsylvania and Maryland and hand-paints home accessories and furniture for clients countrywide.

In addition to her own paranormal experience that occurred when she was twelve, Emily grew up surrounded by family members with plenty of ghost stories to tell. When older, a family member, a former Catholic priest, provoked Emily’s interest in the topic of demonology after sharing stories of several priests he had known who had come into contact with paranormal activity and cases of possession. Prompted by this growing interest in the paranormal, Emily attended her first UNIV-CON event in 2005 and has been following the progress of the Paranormal Research Society ever since. For the most part, Emily considers herself a believer in ghosts and strongly supports paranormal research. However, she believes that caution and a bit of skepticism are both important qualities to have when delving into the realm of the supernatural.

Rosemary Ellen Guiley

guiley.jpg Rosemary Ellen Guiley is one of the foremost authorities on the paranormal. Psychic experiences in childhood led to her life-long study and research of paranormal mysteries. A journalist by training, she has worked full-time in the paranormal since 1983, self-employed as an author, presenter and investigator. She has written 31 nonfiction books on a wide range of paranormal topics, as well as hundreds of articles, and has experienced many of the phenomena she has researched. Her media credits include numerous television, documentary and radio shows. She is a member of the League of Paranormal Gentlemen for Spooked Productions, a columnist for TAPS Paramagazine, and a consulting editor for FATE magazine. Her website is Visionary Living.

Andrew Huff

andrewhuff.jpg Andrew Huff has been blogging since 2001 and is editor and co-founder of Gapers Block, a Chicago-centric news and events webzine. Over the years he's also been a freelance journalist, a public relations professional and a sandwich maker, though not in that order. He grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, within biking distance of a well-known haunted cemetery.

Amy Lillard

lillard.jpg When Amy Lillard was in elementary school, she decided to ape the often unintentionally humorous contents of her mother's magazines. She wrote her first issue of the parody "Weird Woman," complete with advertisements, self-help articles, and advice columns, for what must have been the very small demographic of women considering themselves strange. Not a successful venture by adult terms, but it may just have been the beginnings of a writing career. And it did give her parents a laugh.

Since then she's honed her writing through training and practice, earning degrees from the University of Iowa's English and Journalism programs, and working over 5 years in writing positions at University of Iowa and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Along the way she earned a Master's in Literature from Northwestern.

As an independent writer she's tackled the fascinating, the diverse, and the unique with numerous projects and clients. She takes on subjects she knows intimately, and subjects that allow her to learn. She greets the paranormal with years of interest, and the firm belief that not everything can be explained. In addition to the copywriting, business writing, features and medical writing that fill her dance card, she plugs away at fiction and non-fiction book projects.
